Does water remain molecular indefinitely

How long the dissolved H2 lasts in your water depends on three factors:

1/ Exposure to air

2/ Container material

3/ Temperature

1/ Exposure to air

When poured into a pint glass ( roughly 20 US ounces) of water, the hydrogen can easily last for a few hours and H2 will eventually dissipate. Our assumption is, however, that it doesn’t take you a few hours to drink that much water so you’re fine with that one.

A closed container is much better for keeping the hydrogen in longer.

2/ Container material

The best materials to use for hydrogen-rich water storage are high-quality stainless steel and glass. Plastic wouldn’t be my personal favourite, but if you there’s no other option, choose a higher quality BPA free bottle.

If you fill up your water bottle all the way to the very top with no air space in it and you put a nice lid on it that seals very well, you can keep the hydrogen for up to 10 days.

You need to keep in mind, however, that because it’s a gas, it’s going to decrease each day – roughly by .1 parts per million (ppm) when kept in a cool environment with no direct sunlight. So if you start at 1ppm on day one, on day eight you may only have .2 parts per million dissolved H2. By 10th day you may have lost all of your hydrogen… or you may not.

3/ Temperature

We said you may not lose all the hydrogen by day 10 because it depends on the temperature of the water. The colder the water, the slower the hydrogen gas moves. For that reason, it might be best to keep your bottle in a fridge.

And the practicality of it all? If you have a hydrogen-rich water machine at home already or you’re planning to get one, don’t get too hung up on it all. Worrying, stress and anxiety can do much more damage to your body than happily enjoying a clean glass of water even with very little or no hydrogen in it!
