Can my dog read my thoughts

Does my guardian angel know what I am thinking?

Temc#1

Can my guardian angel 'read' my mind and does he(she?) know my intentions of my actions. (why I acted the way I did?) I read somewhere that angels can't understand our emotions ( like why I cried etc)
any opinions, any thoughts?

Hey Teresa!!!! I think angels know our intentions before we act hence the reason why many have been saved from impending trouble.

Yes my dear friend, yes. God bless You.

i think they can see what may happen in tthe future and thus help us but as for reading minds i doubt it. i think they could figure out what we are thinking but not pull thoughts from our heads

I don’t know, they have superior intellect. Maybe they can see the future, or maybe they can just discern the natural course of events by more ordinary (but superior to our) means.

But I do know this: In my younger and wilder days, my guardian angel saved me from quite a few jackpots that I would have blundered into by curiosity, naivete, or willfulness. Looking back on some of this stupidity, it’s obvious that there was some divine intervention, to me, anyways, because I was pretty foolhardy. In fact, I think I wore my poor guardian angel out, and he was probably ready to file an “unfair working conditions” grievance with the Angels’ Union if they had one!

I thank God for the protection of my guardian angel every single day!

First off, HILARIOUS.

With that said, I'm still pretty young (I'm in my late 20's) but I can definitely agree with that statement. My poor guardian angel must have had quite a hard time with me during my teenage years. :o I'll definitely have to thank my guardian angel big time when I finally get to meet it after my time here on Earth is done.

I’m thinking no. If Guardian Angels could read minds it would follow that all angels could read minds including Lucifer. Seems that if he could do this he would be a lot more successful than he is. Also, wouldn’t he have been able to read Jesus’ mind and realized that tempting the Son of God was futile?

I think that they can react quickly should they need to, and no doubt have become very astute at reading our responses and what we will most likely do in any given situation.

I don't think that logic follows. Demons (aka: fallen angels) are not the same thing as angels loyal to God. Not anymore. Surely the angels who have remained loyal to God are more powerful than those who disobeyed. Also, by the very nature of their wickedness their entire understanding of reality is warped, whereas the angels who are loyal to God view the world rightly in accordance with God's will. I imagine that it works something like (and again I said "something like", not exactly like) the way C.S. Lewis depicts things in his short story The Screwtape Letters.

As for the big question of whether our guardian angels can read our thoughts, who knows for certain? But I will say this, I do believe at the very least that sometimes our guardian angels can hear our thoughts because otherwise how would they hear any mental prayers or pleas we make to them? And surely God would want them to be able to hear such thoughts so that they could perform their duty properly, right? So at a minimum, I'd say guardian angels can hear our thoughts when God wills them to be able to do so. But, I suspect that they hear our thoughts all the time so as to be able to better know us and assist us.

I dont know if this has anything to do with guardian angels but lately I have going through some medical issues. Getting checked and observed for cancer. Well this past week I went into the hospital for a hernia repair and this very nice nurse came in and checked me over. She started talking about cancer and how with God she beat not once or twice but 4 times cancer. She then turned away and said her name was Lynette and if I needed anything have my husband look for her. It was an amazing story but it took me off guard because was not expecting that type of conversation to come up and then I never saw her again. She supposingly was my nurse but like I said she never came back and I never saw her before or after the surgery. My sister things it was one of things that god sends to you letting you know that it will be all ok. I would like to have any thoughts on this from anyone. Thanks for listening.

The general understanding theologically is…

**no
**

(unless your directing your thoughts their way…like with a prayer)

But they are very intelligent …and can put 2 and 2 together much better than us!

So they can intuit a lot from your actions…especially your Guardian Angel…he knows you best.

Grievance with the Angels Union!

I refer to it as - my angel deserves hazardous duty pay.

AZLisa: I’ve beaten three primary cancers. I know the hell of waiting for results. You know what? God is good no matter what the results. He is Emmanuel - God with us - and He will never forsake us. He pours out special graces to get you through whatever you need to - and He will draw you close to Him and give you peace. No matter what!!!

Nestle snuggled up under the warmth and softness of the shelter of God’s wing. (Take a quilt to Holy Hour!)

Wrap yourself under Mary’s Mantle and cling to mama like a trusting child.

Hugs and prayers to you, my dear.

I don’t want to sound superstitious or anything (nor to derail the thread), but there is a chance (although small) that it could have been an angel, which the bible calls as “angels unawares”. Sometimes we meet angels but we will never know they are angels until further scrutiny and inspection. Your story sounds look a good candidate.

Theologically speaking, angels do know know our minds nor our intentions. When they do, it is only because God has allowed them to do so (for a time period). For the most part however, they do not know what we are thinking.

That said, angels in Catholic theology are described as having intelligence vastly superior to our own. Because of this intelligence, angels (and their “opposites”) can make quite accurate deductions about what we are thinking and what our motivations are.

Just this morning I apologized to my guardian angel for all I put him through and how hard I made him work to keep me safe!

Angels, though far superior in intelligence than us, are not omiscient. I do not think they can just randomly read our thoughts. I think that what may happen is that God, who IS omniscient, may allow them access to our thoughts when it serves His purpose, for instance to help us or to warn us. I think that everything they know about us and our thoughts and everything they hear from us (like prayers) is only because God permits it, not because of their own power.

theotikos#16

I have no idea but I suppose they record our words and deeds for reservation for judgment day or the book of life, something like that. Once I was helped by guardian angels while driving, and one of them gave me a grave look in their car that I didn’t even look at her back cause I was afraid to. I wasn’t sure if she was trying to tell me to be careful or if I was in trouble! So I didn’t stare. She had blue eyes and whitish hair. Totally heavenly, not even worthy for that incident.

Anyway to your question. It doesn’t matter if your angels read your thoughts really, what matters is what God sees in your heart (thoughts, emotions, etc) and therefore judges you by. I think this is more important than status, name, church attendance, etc. This reminds me that Jesus could read the hearts of everyone he met while on earth (in Heaven too of course!). Did you know Mary can read our thoughts too? Read this scripture below:

And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother: Behold this child is set for the fall, and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; (and even a sword shall go through thine own soul so that the thoughts may be revealed from many hearts. D.R. Bible

Thank you for all your kind words and insight on guardian angels. Waiting on second opinions from doctors to see if I am ok.
